Hi everyone,
With seven days to go before our campaign comes to a close, I wanted to reveal some of the artwork that will be featured throughout The Fantasy Character Kit, and reveal an exciting project that we have been working on that all backers will have free access to!
Artwork Reveal
We start every chapter in The Fantasy Character Kit with an awesome illustration of a character from that class. You might recognise some of these characters, as they are featured on the limited edition covers. Take a look at the full line up below, and let us know in the comments who your favourite is!

These illustrations will also be available in the pledge manager as Kickstarter-exclusive art prints. More information about this will follow in a future update, stay tuned!
Adventures in The Autumn Hills
As a bonus to this campaign, all backers will be sent a detailed, free preview PDF of an open world fantasy setting that we have been working on for a little while – we're really excited to finally share some details with you all!
The open world setting is based in an area called The Autumn Hills, a mysterious and unexplored land which can be procedurally generated by you and your adventuring party. Many of the illustrated characters featured above will be usable as fully fleshed-out characters with backstories that relate to this area, and will be totally ready to pick up and play on the tabletop. You can of course use your existing characters from your home games to explore this new frontier or create new ones entirely!
The Autumn Hills promises to be a fascinating area to traverse, and a great starting point for planning a new and exciting campaign. What's more, we plan to give our Roll & Play community opportunities to share their unique ideas and stories based in the Autumn Hills for others to discover and enjoy. Who knows what's behind that mountain, at the end of that pathway, or under that rock?
We will be able to release more information about The Autumn Hills open world setting as it develops, but we're excited to hear what you think! Are you eager to begin exploring this uncharted land?

Quick Character Cards: A Preview

Hi everyone,
Today I wanted to introduce you to the Quick Character Cards, show you how they look, and demonstrate how you could use them when playing, planning or writing your sessions! These cards are included in the Alchemist (PDF only), Folk Legend, Guildmaster and Monarch tiers; they are also available as a pledge add-on.
There are five A6 cards, and each one is double-sided. On one side there are a number of tables that help create interesting characters within a particular theme, and on the other side is a fully fleshed-out character that is ready to use as an NPC or party member!
The example card shown is all about merchants, but the theme could be anything from tavern owners to cult leaders! I will be contacting the producers of the project (Guildmasters and Monarchs) once the campaign closes to gather their suggestions, and all backers will be notified when the final five themes have been chosen.
Great for GMs
Game masters can generate a multitude of NPCs by combining different results across the five cards on the fly. They also provide five full characters who will make great allies, antagonists or quest-givers for your party!
Alternatively, if you're running a game with new players, you can hand them a character card so they can get started with role-playing straight away.
Perfect for Players
These cards are great as a starting point for creating a character which has fun role-play options (especially if your character died mid-campaign and you urgently need a new one, or if you have a one-shot game coming up). Or, if you're looking to create an unconventional character, these five cards are full of inspiration and are a great place to begin!
Each character profile includes a personality to role-play, a quote to get you in the spirit of the character, a short backstory that is easy to memorise, and optional suggested classes for you to consider pairing them with.
If you haven't pledged at a level that includes the Quick Character Cards, but you would like to pick them up, you can head over to the campaign page and click 'Manage My Pledge' to upgrade to a level that includes them. These cards will only be available during this Kickstarter campaign and the pledge manager, so don't miss out!

Stretch Goal Unlocked: Warlocks & Shamans Cover!

Hi everyone,
Great news – our project has just unlocked its next stretch goal! This means that we will set up a new limited edition print run for the mysterious and otherworldly Warlocks & Shamans! We were particularly excited about this cover, it's one of our favourites. Do you have a Warlock in your game, what are they like, and which patron do they have?
Unlocking the Warlocks & Shaman's cover also means that it's included as a prize option for our Dice Giveaway Competition along with the dice below (created by the magnificent Conflux Art)! For the full details and instructions on how to enter, check out Update #4.

If you haven't pledged for a limited edition cover, but you would like one, you can head over to the campaign page and click 'Manage My Pledge' to upgrade to a level that includes one. The limited edition covers will only be available during the Kickstarter campaign, so get them while you can!

Magic Items, and a 'Familiar' Shout Out

Hi everyone,
I hope you're having a good week so far. If you joined us since our last update, welcome aboard, and don't forget to enter our Dice Giveaway Competition if you haven't already!
One of my favourite things about Roll & Play: The Fantasy Character Kit is that it includes a full page of magic items designed specifically for each class. This gives players a chance to equip themselves with incredible items when designing their character, or helps GMs hand out tailored loot to their party. The book also includes tables that will make every spell you cast explode with personality, like Wild Shape Quirks, Smite Manifestations, Spiritual Weapon Descriptions, and more.

Featured by Hexbound!
If you're backing this awesome, new project from Hit Point Press, you may have spotted that we were featured yesterday in their update as a 'project they love'! If you haven't come across Hexbound: A Witchy Supplement for 5E, it's definitely worth checking out. It can add a ton of magic to your games, and includes new witch subclasses, spells, familiars, and backgrounds as well as illustrated adventures, magical items, and new creatures. They even have a cool companion app that animates the illustrations in the book, and can roll dice for you too!
Antonio, the creator, reached out to us to congratulate us on our campaign, and challenged us to see how the random tables in Roll & Play: The Fantasy Character Kit could work with their new book.
So, we thought it would be fun to create a familiar using both our books combined! By choosing from one of the many familiars available in their supplement and rolling on the Faithful Familiars table in The Fantasy Character Kit, you can design an enormous amount of creative and unique travel companions to help you brew potions and cast spells.

We rolled a 12 on the Pet Personalities table, which told us our one-eyed raven friend is sneaky, and is always looking to cause mischief wherever they go, just for the fun of it. This could add a whole host of role-playing opportunities to your games. Maybe our raven hides in dark places and jumps out to scare the rest of our unsuspecting adventuring party? Or perhaps they hide all the cutlery every night before dinner is served at our campsite?

Hi everyone,
Today, we're announcing an AWESOME new competition which is exclusive for backers of our project!
TWO lucky competition winners will receive a free limited edition copy of Roll & Play: The Fantasy Character Kit of their choice, plus a stunning set of seven handmade, resin, polyhedral dice in a colour to match their book. The dice will be made for you by the wonderful dice-making duo Isaac & Michelle of Conflux Art, who make every set from scratch using custom moulds from their home in Santa Margarita, California.
I first came across their beautiful dice last year, then gave Sam a 15-minute TED Talk explaining why we NEEDED these dice in our lives. He didn't take much convincing, and we made it our mission to get our hands on two sets of dice from Conflux Art's November dice drop as a gift to each other for Christmas. You can spot our personal sets in the Wizard and Fighter pictures below! We absolutely love our dice, so thought it would be awesome if our backers could have some too. We are very excited that Isaac & Michelle have kindly booked us in to produce some gorgeous dice for the two lucky competition winners!

Entry to the competition is really simple – all you have to do is share our Kickstarter campaign via any of the methods listed below! Then, return to this update and let us know where you’ve shared it.
You will get one entry to the competition for each method you use to share, a maximum of 3 entries per backer will be counted. Shares and reposts from before this update will not count as entries to the competition.

You don’t need to send us evidence of where you’ve shared our project, as we appreciate some of you may be in groups or forums that are private. Let us know where you have shared in a comment on this update.

Extra Information
The TWO winners will be randomly selected after The Fantasy Character Kit campaign closes, all entries must be received by 17:30GMT 25th March 2021. As this competition is exclusive to backers, if you cancel your pledge before the end of the campaign your competition entry will be withdrawn.
If you are a competition winner and a limited edition cover is already included in your pledge level, you will have the choice to either be refunded the £30 cost of the book, or receive an additional limited edition book.
Winners will be contacted by Kickstarter Message and will have 48 hours to claim their prize. If we do not receive a reply in this time, a new winner will be randomly selected.
The free dice and limited edition cover will be sent to winners during the project fulfilment stage in October 2021.
